Looking back on the success of our graduates
With our next Graduation Ceremony on the 3rd May 2017, we wanted to look back on and highlight the success of our previous graduates. These stories are from our students who graduated in November 2016 at London Guildhall. Could you be next?
Kriti Sherchan, from Nepal. She graduated with a LPC and studied at BPP University London Holborn.
Kriti moved to the UK from Nepal to begin her higher education journey. Beginning at Essex University to complete her LLB, she went on to do her LPC with BPP University based at the London Holborn campus. “My work colleagues recommended BPP University as it offered the flexibility to work full-time alongside my studies – as well as its top reputation for education in law” explained Kriti.
Kriti enjoyed the small classes, providing an intimate and well-supported learning environment. One of her challenges was the careful balance of life, work and study. She maintains that anyone taking on a similar route must be prepared for the extensive reading required.
Kriti is currently completing her training contract and will be a qualified solicitor in May 2017. She is hoping to specialise in property law.
Kiril Golunov, originally from Russia, lived in London for 13 years. He graduated with a Master’s in Management with Finance and studied at BPP University London City.
The day after his BPP University graduation was to be Kirill Golunov’s last day working as a London bus driver. He graduated with a Master’s in Management with Finance and his next career move was to join a broker firm as a foreign exchange customer support analyst.
Interestingly, Kirill met his Russian wife in London. She had previously graduated from BPP University with a law degree and recommended the university to him. Having completed his Bachelor’s degree in Russia whilst working full-time in the UK, Kirill decided to continue his education.
He is currently studying for a CIMA qualification with BPP Professional Education. He described his experience with BPP University as ‘life-changing’ and attributed much of his success to having great support from his wife, friends and family.
Trang Ngo Quynh, from Vietnam. Graduated with a Master’s in Accounting and Finance and studied at BPP University Business School London.
Trang satisfied her passion for financial services by doing her Master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at BPP University. She chose BPP University because of its reputation in professional education and strong links with businesses. She was also very impressed that she could accelerate her career progression as the syllabus aligns with the ACCA qualification which prepared her to undertake the ACCA professional level examinations during the programme.
“The BPP University Professional Development team has helped me to find work experience by offering CV checks, mock interviews and providing me feedback. I had secured an internship in a finance department of a medium-sized business where I have since been offered a job. I wouldn’t have had this opportunity without their great support. BPP University is well known in the corporate world and I am truly proud to be a BPP University student” said Trang.
Her advice to other, new international students is to: “immerse yourself into the UK’s culture and experiences, seek opportunities to develop your social skills as much as your academic skills during your time here. The graduate job market can be challenging. To be a successful graduate student, the desire to improve your soft skills through your extra-curricular activities is just as important as gaining your qualifications.”
Evaldo de Macedo Dutra Junior, from Brazil, in London for 9 years. He graduated with a Master’s in International Marketing and studied at BPP University London City.
Evaldo de Macedo Dutra chose to do a Master’s in International Marketing following the completion of his degree in psychology, studied in his home country of Brazil. He took a gap year which brought him to the UK to start his Master’s – as recommended by a BPP University representative in Brazil.
“I would recommend BPP University to anyone who is looking to relate academic studies with a workplace role” commented Evaldo. “I found the programme translated very well to the skills required by my employers”. He also benefited from excellent tutors, including those with a background in blue-chip companies such as Unilever and PlayStation. “I got real-world experience as I had hoped for” he finished.
Evaldo now works for an agency that recruits students to UK universities and would urge anyone looking to study overseas to make strong contacts from all walks of life.
You can watch our Graduation Ceremony live on Facebook at 11am and 4pm on the 3rd May 2017.
