Important questions to ask at your Education Fair

Education Fairs are very important in choosing a university- they can be your first, and maybe only impression of a university before you arrive. The events are all about discovering how the university would work for you, both in terms of your academic career and social interests.

Asking the right questions is key to ensuring you get the most out of your visit. We have compiled some queries that we recommend asking on the day;

Initial Questions (you might already know the answers to):

  • What can I study?
  • Where can I study?
  • How much are the fees?
  • What are the entry requirements?
  • How long will it take to complete my course?
  • How do I apply?
  • What are the course start dates?

Going into more detail on the course:

  • How will I be assessed?
  • What will my timetable look like?
  • What are the holidays like? (For planning trips home)
  • What size will seminars and lectures be?
  • How many hours will I get with a personal tutor?
  • What links are there with employers?

Questions about studying in the UK:

  • Can I get help with travel to the UK?
  • Where can I live in my chosen city? What are the accommodation options?
  • What support will I have when I arrive?
  • Can I connect with other students before I arrive, and what is the social life like?
  • What societies and sports teams are there to be involved with when I arrive?

Being organised and bringing questions with you will mean you leave the Education Fair as informed as possible, and ready to make decisions on future study. Good luck!
